This guide explains how to prepare and import an Excel file of contacts into Send Blaster Pro.
Quick Rules #
- File type: Only Excel (.xlsx) files are supported.
- Required header: One of header must be phone.
- First sheet only: Your data must be on the first sheet.
- Header row required: The first row must contain column headers (can’t be empty but must exist).
- Automatic cleanup: Send Blaster Pro removes spaces, dashes, parentheses, and plus signs from phone numbers automatically.
Accepted Phone Column Names #
Your phone column header can be any of these (not case-sensitive):
- Phone
- Mobile number
- Contact number
- Telephone
If you use a different name, you can map it to “Phone” during the import process.
Step 1 – Prepare Your Excel File #
- Open Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- In the first row, add your column titles. Example:
Phone | Name | Parent | Grade - Add one contact per row:
+14165551234 | Alex | John | 95 - Make sure your data is on the first sheet of the workbook.
- Save the file as Excel Workbook (.xlsx).
Step 2 – Import into Send Blaster Pro #
- Open Send Blaster Pro.
- Go to Contacts → Add contacts → Upload Excel.
- Select excel file you want to upload.
- Check the preview to confirm your data looks correct.
- Click Import and name your contact list.
Using Excel Data in Messages #
You can personalize your messages using the column names from your Excel file.
Example:
Hi {{Name}}, your grade is {{Grade}}.
Send Blaster Pro will replace each placeholder with the actual data from your Excel sheet.
Optional Special Columns #
You can add special columns for advanced features:
- ScheduledSendTime – send each message at a specific time.
- PhotoFileName – attach a different image for each contact.
- SendMessage – use “True” or “False” to control which rows send.
Why Imports Fail #
Common reasons for failed imports include:
- Missing or incorrect phone column.
- More than one phone column in the sheet.
- First row doesn’t contain headers.
- Data not on the first worksheet.
- Complex Excel features (formulas, merged cells, hidden sheets).
- Blank or invalid phone numbers.
Troubleshooting Tips #
- Make sure your file is saved as .xlsx and contacts are on the first sheet.
- Rename the phone header to Phone if import fails.
- Remove any unused or empty sheets.
- If rows are rejected, check the import report for details.
